During the month of December, Hospice of Lubbock has their annual fundraiser called Light Up A Life.

With the fundraiser, they sell angel ornaments each year. This year’s ornament features an angel with a trumpet.

The money goes to their charity care program. “That just ensures that our mission continues and that we provide great care for everybody that we take care of,” Charley Wasson said.

Wasson is the executive director of Hospice of Lubbock.

“For us, and many other hospices throughout the country, it is a fundraiser so that we can take care of our patients and their families, and also it gives people an opportunity to remember their loved ones and to celebrate the great things in their lives,” Wasson said.

The Hospice of Lubbock is a non-profit that serves Lubbock County as well as the surrounding 18 counties.

“It’s anybody who has a terminal diagnosis, regardless of age, and we can take care of both pediatrics and adults,” Wasson said. “Being a non-profit, we make sure we take care of anyone and everyone who needs our help, even if they don’t have the financial resources.”
