Roses are red, sugar is sweet. Valentine’s Day is known for its treats. All rhyming aside, health experts believe it’s always a good idea to limit your intake of those sweet and sugary treats.

“If you know you are going to have a holiday party make sure you are having a healthy breakfast, healthy lunch, healthy dinner and just increase physical activity during that time of year during any kind of holiday,” said Allison Jones, Covenant Dietitian.

If there’s a party at your child’s school, Jones said the easiest and first thing parents should do is plan ahead.

“Make sure that you are asking the parents or the teachers that you are bringing the food to see if there are any food allergies,” said Jones.
