Heavy Rain, Flooding Possible for Lubbock and South Plains

The Lubbock office of National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook on Wednesday for Lubbock and other South Plains counties. 

The NWS said, “Slow-moving showers and thunderstorms will expand in coverage today and especially overnight.”


“Heavy rain and flooding will be the greatest threats with these thunderstorms,” the NWS said. Hail was also a potential threat. 

A flood watch was also in effect from 1:00 p.m. Wednesday through 7:00 a.m. Thursday for Lubbock and other South Plains Counties.  

Flood Watch Counties: 

Parmer, Castro,Swisher, Briscoe, Hall, Childress, Bailey.  Lamb,  Hale,  Floyd,  Motley, Cottle, Cochran, Hockley, Lubbock, Crosby, Dickens, Yoakum, Terry, Lynn, Garza and Kent.
