A Lubbock man is custody after leading multiple law enforcement agencies in a high speed chase across three counties Saturday morning.
Corporal John Gonzales, a DPS spokesman, tells EverythingLubbock.com the chase began around 9:40 a.m. just west of Littlefield.
A DPS trooper was attempting to stop a silver Saturn Vue SUV for a speeding violation.
The suspect then led authorities down U.S. Highway 84 through Lamb, Hockley and into Lubbock County. Authorities did deploy spike strips several times but the suspect vehicle avoided them.
The chase then continued along multiple highways and street in northwest, west and south Lubbock.
The chase eventually ended at 50th Street and Avenue Q in the Whataburger parking lot around 10:43 a.m. when the vehicle became disabled.
The DPS identified the suspect Saturday afternoon as John Corvelo DeAvila, 39, of Lubbock. DeAvila has been charged with Evading Arrest and Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
The case is still under investigation.
