An updated arrest warrant was issued last week for Anthony Acosta, 36, of Lubbock for tampering with evidence. Acosta was arrested in March of last year for the death of Reynaldo Rincon, 50.
A police report said Rincon was found dead at 32nd Street and Avenue G after he was hit by a car. Police said the driver did not stop, and a Crime Line tip led to Acosta being identified as the driver.
The updated arrest warrant said Acosta worked for a collision repair shop and had 20 years of automotive body work experience.
It said body damage to a 2001 black Monte Carlo had been repaired, a plastic mirror housing was removed and the windshield had been replaced.
The updated arrest warrant accused Acosta of tampering with evidence by concealing, repairing or destroying a windshield, human tissue, an automotive headlight, an automotive hood, a bumper, and a fender.
Acosta had already posted bond in March of 2015 to be released from jail for failure to stop and render aid. He was not listed Monday in online jail records with the Lubbock County Detention Center.
The charge against Acosta for failure to stop and render aid was still pending Monday according to court records.
