Two Hobbs, New Mexico men, were shot [Friday] in the 2600 block N. Lovington Hwy. at about 4:26 PM today. Hobbs Police Officers responded after persons reported hearing gunshots in the area of Lovington Highway and Silver Drive. Upon officer’s arrival, a scene was located; however, there were no victims on scene. A short time later, two men were arrived at Lea Regional Hospital in Hobbs by private vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. Raul Silva, Jr., age 26, remains in stable condition at Lea Regional Hospital. Diego Garcia, age 32, has been airlifted to a Lubbock, Texas hospital in critical, but stable condition.
Detectives are currently processing the scene and conducting interviews of potential witnesses. There are currently no known suspects, but this incident appears to be isolated, and there is no perceived threat to the public.
