Jennifer Aniston is a CEO who wants to shut down her brother’s branch office out of spite. Her brother enlists his Chief Technical Officer, Jason Bateman, to throw an epic office party to win over a client, make the sale, and save everyone’s job. People are calling it the funniest movie of the holiday season. It’s rated R for obvious reasons, and runs an hour-fourty-five. You can join the Office Christmas Party at the Alamo Drafthouse, either Cinemark, Premiere, and Stars and Stripes.
You know it’s the holidays when the curtain goes up on Ballet Lubbock‘s annual production of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. There are two more performances this weekend, Friday night at 7:00 and the Saturday Matinee at 2:00. The next weekend, the last two performances, are Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Don’t miss the Rat King and the Sugar Plum Fairy at the Civic Center Theater. Tickets start at $20 and you can get them through Select-A-Seat.
And one of Lubbock’s longest holiday traditions starts Saturday night. Santa and Mrs. Clause arrive at Santaland at 6 o’clock, and some City Council members will be there to light the three and make the opening official. Santaland is open every night until the 23rd, from 6:00 to 10:00. It’s in Mackenzie park, off the East Broadway entrance. It’s free, concessions will be available for purchase, as well a pictures with Santa (and you can take your own). This year is it’s 60th anniversary. Almost 50,000 people visit Santaland every year.
