One person is dead and two others were seriously injured in a house fire Saturday morning in Plainview.
Plainview Fire Chief Rusty Powers tells EverythingLubbock.com the fire occurred around 7:30 a.m. at 109 Castro Street.
When firefighters arrived, they discovered an enclosed patio deck in the rear of the house fully engulfed in flames
Powers said three fire victims were transported by Plainview EMS ambulances to Covenant Health Plainview.
The Plainview Fire Department believes the fire originated from a barbecue grill on the rear patio. The State Fire Marshall’s Office is currently investigating.
According to the Plainview Daily Herald, a female victim, identified as Niki Garcia, 32, died at Covenant Health Plainview. Chief Powers could not confirm the identity of the victim to EverythingLubbock.com at this time.
The two other fire victims, both adult males not identified at this time, were then transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock.
One firefighter was treated and released from Covenant Health Plainview as a result of the fire, Chief Powers said.
