A Houston middle school teacher, Alexandria M. Vera, 24, turned herself in on Wednesday after she was charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child.
Vera was accused of having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old who was a student in her 8th grade English class from September 30 through January 30.
The school principal called the Adeline ISD police after getting a tip about Vera’s relationship to the child. She met with police and admitted to the relationship.
An arrest warrant said, “She stated that she and the [student] had sex on [an] almost a daily basis at her home and that they love each other.”
“She went over to [the student’s] home, and was introduced as his girlfriend to the Complainant’s parents,” the warrant also said. “The Defendant stated that the parents were accepting of their relationship and she was even invited to family gatherings after that point.”
The warrant said Vera was impregnated and first the boy’s family was excited. But she decided to get an abortion.
The recommended bond on the arrest warrant was $100,000. According to media accounts in Houston, Vera was released from jail.
