On Sunday afternoon, April 24, 2016, Deputies with the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office were called to meet with City Officers in reference to skeletal remains found by local rancher leasing land from the City of Lamesa for grazing cattle. The land is located at the south end of the City.
The Texas Rangers Office out of Midland was contacted to assist with the identity of the remains.
On Friday, May 8, 2015 the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office investigated a red in color Kawasaki motorcycle from Florida that had been abandoned just south of the city limit, next to highway 87. Later it was determined that the motorcyclist was reported missing and was last seen in the general area of the motorcycle.
It is believed based on items found at and around the scene of the skeletal remains that this could be those of the motorcyclist.
