At the November 3, 2016 Lubbock City Council Meeting, members appointed current First Assistant City Attorney Mitch Satterwhite as Interim City Attorney.
Current City Attorney Chad Weaver has been appointed to serve as Interim City Manager following the retirement of current City Manager James Loomis on November 18, 2016 and until a new City Manager is hired. Mr. Satterwhite will serve as Interim City Attorney during that time.
“Mitch is a dedicated servant to the City, who has twice stepped up to the plate when asked by the Council to act as Interim City Attorney,” Mayor Dan Pope said. “The City will be in good hands during the transition.”
Mr. Satterwhite has been with the City Attorney’s Office since March of 2004. He’s currently the second-in-command as First Assistant City Attorney, a position he’s held since 2014. Satterwhite previously served as Interim City Attorney in 2009 and in 2014.
“It’s an honor to have been asked by the Council to fill in for Chad until our new leadership team is in place,” Satterwhite said. “I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to serve, and I appreciate the Council’s confidence in me.”
Mr. Satterwhite is a graduate of the Texas Tech University School of Law and a native of Ropesville, Texas.
