Many Lubbock residents said they were without power Saturday morning.
Lubbock Power And Light explained the problem stemmed from “equipment in a substation providing power to Central Lubbock residents malfunctioned which caused service to be interrupted for a large number of customers.”
LP&L said “we can now report that all affected customers’ power should be fully restored,” as of 9:45 a.m.
According to LP&L’s outage map, approximately 180 outages were listed as of 9:25 a.m.
That figure went as high as 200 before 10:00 a.m. and began to decline as the system was updated.
“Interruption of service is never ideal but we certainly never want to see it happen on Christmas Eve,” LP&L said. Crews were to remain on call throughout the weekend “in the event we have any further issues.”
To report an outage to LP&L, send a text or email to lightsout@lpandl.com.
“You may also call 775-2509 although in the event of a large outage the phone lines can become busy,” said LP&L.
