On October 25, 2004, Tammy Cooper and her three children were found dead in a North Lubbock apartment.

In the last 12 years, the investigation into their murders has continued.

“As of a week and a half ago, the investigators were out of the office, talking to people, out in the community,” Lieutenant John Hayes with the Lubbock Police Department said.

While a dozen years have past since the crime happened, Hayes said this is a case that gets looked at and those working on the case are constantly following up on leads.

“There are things we’re actively looking at, and people that we’re actively talking to, and those kind of things,” Hayes said.

There has been one person of interest the case, a man who has been referred to by a nickname “Butch”.

“We believe we have a pretty strong idea of who it is, who that nickname relates to, and it’s a case of locating him now, that many years later, they could be anywhere,” Hayes said.

Hayes said he is confident in the investigators who are working on the case.

“I have confidence that they’ll solve it, I really do, and I think they feel, and I think they feel like they’re headed down the right path,” Hayes said.
