A 32-year-old Iowa Park man faces trial for allegedly making terroristic threats at a public place with a steak knife and later following and cutting off the man he threatened, with his motorcycle.
According to the arrest affidavit, John Drapaniotis followed the man after a confrontation at a Wichita Falls restaurant. It alleges: A man said he was at the restaurant with his family when his two children began crying. He said a man began mocking his children’s crying sounds, and he went over and asked him to stop and to, quote, “just act civilized.”
He then got his family and left and said when he got outside, the man was standing by the front door with a steak knife in his hand. He said he asked what he intended to do with the knife and the man said he would use it if he had to. The man put his children in the car and his wife called 9-1-1.
Police arrived and said the two sides were separated and both left the restaurant. Then while driving home the man said two motorcycles began following his car closely at Wiley Road and Highway 258 and he recognized one of the riders as the same man. He said he sped up to get away but they caught up and tried to cut him off then he says a black Dodge Charger also came up close behind the man called 9-1-1 and Sheriff’s Deputies responded.
The car and cycles had already turned off a side road but deputies recognized the description of the car and went to a house on Love Road and said found the car and motorcycles. After identifying Drapaniotis, deputies arrested him.
