Is Your Vehicle Affected by GM’s Big Recall?

General Motors (GM) on Friday announced that it is recalling 3.6 million vehicles in the U.S. because of a software problem that can prevent front air bags from inflating in a crash.

The defect, which may also impair a vehicle’s seat belts normal functioning, has been linked to one death and several injuries. Following are the vehicles and model years affected by the recall:

Owners can contact Buick customer service at (800) 521-7300; Cadillac customer service at (800) 458-8006; Chevrolet customer service at (800) 222-1020; and GMC customer service at (800) 462-8782. GM’s case number for the recall is 16007.

Customers can also look up their vehicle identification number at either GM websites or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to see if their vehicle is part of the recall. NHTSA’s vehicle safety hotline is (888) 327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
