The Lubbock City Council will meet to hear a presentation and participate in the demonstration of the “It Can Wait Simulator” to bring public awareness on the dangers of distracted driving. The presentation will take place on Thursday, July 28 at 10:45 a.m. in front of the East Entrance of City Hall, 1625 13th Street. Remarks, statistics and information on the dangers of distracted driving and texting while driving will be presented.
Mayor Dan Pope stated, “With school starting-up in a few weeks, hosting this simulator at City Hall is a good opportunity to create greater public awareness of the dangers of distracted driving, especially texting and driving. Everyone is welcome to come to City Hall on Thursday and drive the simulator. I encourage all citizens to join us in reinforcing the message that when it comes to texting and driving – It Can Wait.”
The purpose of the simulator is to educate the public on the consequences of distracted driving. The general public is welcome to try the “It Can Wait Simulator” once the official remarks are concluded and until 4:30 p.m.
