A Jacksboro mother has been arrested in connection with the death of her 17-year-old son earlier this month.

Christy Pruitt was arrested by authorities in Martin County after a traffic stop revealed her arrest warrants out of Jack County.  She is charged with delivery of a controlled substance to a child and tampering with evidence with bonds totaling $150-thousand dollars.

Trey Pruitt was found unresponsive in his home January 16th after not showing up to school.  Jack County Sheriff Tommy Spurlock says a bottle of morphine belonging to his mother, Christy was found in the home.

After Trey’s funeral on January 20th Sheriff Spurlock says Christy fled the area and was arrested Friday in Martin County.  He says she is accused to providing morphine to Trey, and attempting to hide a cell phone with texts indicating she had done so.

Sheriff Spurlock says Trey Pruitt’s autopsy report is not back yet so authorities do not have an official cause of death. However he says if Trey’s death is related to the overdose Christy Pruitt would most likely continue facing her current charges.

Those charges are second and third degree felonies carrying 2 to 20 years and 2 to 10 years respectively.
