Joyland Amusement Park will open for Spring Breakout March 16 – 20, and to get ready, the owner shares how they get the park ready for everyone to have a safe experience.
The park closed in the fall for the off-season and reopened to the public on March 5. Joyland’s owner, David Dean, said there is a lot of work that goes into getting the park ready.
“Usually during the off-season, we do a lot of rebuilding, repainting, and that kind of thing, but around January 1, we start putting things back together and then testing things out,” Dean said.
“Through the winter, we have various inspectors come in and we send parts off to manufacturers and get things tested and checked for cracks,” Dead added.
Once that process is through, more testing begins and they will adjust the rides as needed.
“Everyday before we open, we spend, let’s see, about 6 of us spend most of the morning doing ride inspections and servicing,” Dean said. “Once we get into our operating mode, a lot of what we do is safety inspections and servicing and looking over the rides.”
Dean also said it’s also important to follow all the rules in the park and to follow the height guidelines outside of the rides.
The park is open during spring break Wednesday to Sunday, March 16 – 20, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. More information can be found on their website at www.JoylandPark.com
