Niem Stevenson, a two-time Junior College All-American, is now Chris Beard’s first signee at Texas Tech.
Less than two weeks after taking the job, Beard convinced the six-foot-five shooting guard to turn down interest from Kansas and Oregon to be a Red Raider.
Stevenson scored 25 points per game this past season at Seward County Community College.
“You’re getting not just a scorer, but one who scores efficiently,” said his former assistant coach Patrick Nee. “You don’t see guys, from a perimeter position, scoring that high(25 points) and still shooting that efficiently.”
