On Thursday June 9th, Altitude Trampoline Park will be hosting: “Jump In The Fight Against HSP-Team Montoya.”
This is a campaign that was started to bring awareness to the Lubbock Community about Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia and to benefit a local family that has been affected by this disease. Tristan Montoya was diagnosed with this rare genetic disorder that has no cure. He was the only known case in Lubbock until recently. Two of his siblings have now also become patients at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, Texas. These children are not able to receive treatment locally and travel multiple times per year in order to receive care.
In recent months Tristan’s condition has progressed. His mother was recently put on Family Medical Leave to manage his care and this has left the family with no income making daily living a struggle. The family also has an upcoming appointment in August to begin treatment for all of the children.
The event is all day from 10 a.m.- 9 p.m. with a portion of admission going to help the family. People must say they are jumping for Team Montoya.
From 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. on that same day people who are wearing a T-shirt that has been designed for that day will also secure a larger amount of the proceeds to be given to the family with their medical expenses. T-Shirts are on sale for $12.
We also are looking for local business to sponsor a few jumpers who will try to jump for those 3 hours in a show of commitment to find a cure for this disease!
