Burglary caught on victim’s dash cam

A car burglary was caught on camera and one woman is thanking her dash cam video for catching the robber red handed.

Barbara Orr, wife of the robbery victim, said she and her husband go out to lunch at the same spot every week.

“I parked right behind him so our vehicles were close to each other, and it happens that this is the one time something actually happens,” Orr said.

She said they had no idea what was happening while they were eating.

“My husband got in his van and noticed his tool bag was missing from his seat,” Orr said.

When they realized things were missing, she turned to her dash cam video.

“I looked at the video, and that’s what we found, the gentleman getting in his truck and taking his tools,” Orr said.

The motion sensors on the dash cam, detected the movement, she said. Orr never imagined she’d catch something like this on camera.

“If anything was to happen, an accident or anything we like to have the video proof,” Orr said.

She filed a police report, but no one has been caught. She said having proof makes her feel a little bit safer.

“It’s just devastating,” Orr said. “When we go to eat something real fast, he just never thinks to lock it, we trust in people that they’re not going to get into something like that, he learned a very valuable lesson.”
