The New England Patriots collected their sixth ring in the Big Game, beating the Los Angeles Rams 13-3. Fans watched the game in their own ways across town. The question remained, which is the most favorable way to watch the game? At sports bars or at a home party?
“It’s the comradery and the people around. You are with your closest friends typically and it is nice to have a good time and spend it in your own space,” said Bretton Villarreal, a sports fan watching from home.
“I like watching it at bars because I can be there with my friends and we can sit there and be as loud as we want to be,” said Luke Maxwell, who watched the game at 4ore Golf.
When it comes to planning for the big game, 4ore Golf manager, Cherill Smith, said it takes a couple months to plan for the big crowds the game brings.
“It takes a while to get the word out and it takes a lot of planning. You get statistics from the city, you have to order extra food, extra alcohol, and create a special that’ll bring people in,” she said.
The establishment also ensured they had a kid-friendly environment suitable for the whole family, not just football lovers.
“We want a place that adults can have a good time, and so can the kids,” she said.
Other sports bars, like Walk-Ons Bistreaux & Bar, attracted people from out of the state to watch.
“We are from Cannon Air Force Base. We don’t know anyone so we decided to come to Lubbock and watch the football game,” said Bryson Forrest, who watched the game at Walk-Ons.
While, each decision comes with its own experiences, many fans agreed, surrounding themselves with good people is what makes the entire experience.
“It’s just spending it with the people you love and care about and just getting to see everyone have a great time,” said Villarreal.
