A local couple has celebrated a lot of Valentine’s
Days during their time together. What started off as a blind date for Nadine and Bruce Wilson, has turned into a 54 year marriage.
“[We have] a cup collection, we’ve collected
those one by one as we go,” Bruce Wilson said.
They said they met in April of 1961 and have
been together ever since.
“We worked first in Indiana, then Illinois,
then the Republic of the Philippians, then in Texas,” Bruce Wilson said.
They said they picked up a mug on every road
trip and vacation.
“We’ll try to find a mug that says a little
about the place that we are,” Nadine & Bruce Wilson said.
They’re good conversation starters, Bruce
Wilson said.
“When we have strangers in, we’ll serve coffee
in the mugs,” Bruce Wilson said. “So if you run out of things to talk about you just talk about somebody will bring up whatever their mug says.”
Their love goes beyond chocolate, flowers
or a nice dinner, Nadine Wilson said.
“Occasionally I’ll see something she might
like and out of 54 years married, maybe that’s happened five times,” Bruce Wilson said.
They said they love starting every day together,
with their coffee in hand.
“It’s more of just being together,” Nadine
Wilson said.
