DPS Responds to Deadly Crash Near New Deal Early Monday Morning

The Texas Department of Public Safety said one person was killed in a crash early Monday morning.  DPS provided an update a few hours after the crash. 

DPS was called to a crash on FM 1729, west of County Road 2000, west of New Deal, around 2:15 Monday morning.


According to DPS, a car lost control and went through a fence. The car caught on fire.

DPS said a female passenger was killed and a driver was taken to University Medical Center.  DPS identified the victim as LaTanya Denise Lacy, 38, of Lubbock.  She was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver was identified by DPS as Skyler Lynn Duncan, 35, of Lubbock.  Duncan was take taken University Medical Center.
