The Lubbock Central Appraisal District will begin mailing 2019 notices of appraisal value on April 2nd.

“Values are not going crazy like in other parts of the state, where there are double digit increases, we are having a modest increases every year,” said Tim Radloff, chief appraiser at the Lubbock Central Appraisal District.

According to the Lubbock Central Appraisal District, many home values have gone up since last year, especially in more popular neighborhoods.

“We see increases in a lot of areas in town, the areas that are higher in demand, the growing school districts such as Lubbock-Cooper, Shallowater, Frenship,” said Gary Adrian, a property tax consultant at Ace of Texas.

“Your more homogeneous neighborhoods are going to be easier for us to appraise, there’s going to be more sales, they’re going to be more alike,” Radloff said.

The average market value of a single family residence in Lubbock County is going up by about $8,000.

However, the average increase, 5.7 percent is still down from last year’s 6.4 percent.

“It’s not as big of an increase as it was the prior year,” Radloff said.

Whether a person’s property value has gone up or down, he said they can still protest it to see if it’s accurate. Radloff said individuals should bring any proof they have if they think their home wasn’t appraised properly.

Adrian said everything has to be in by May 15th if a person wants to protest.
