LUBBOCK, Texas– A family in Tahoka rushed to their pantry after spotting a tornado approaching their home Sunday night.
The National Weather Service said two tornadoes touched down that evening, including an EF2 rated tornado that hit Gilda Taylor’s home.
Taylor’s home was located toward the beginning touchdown of the tornado in Northwest Tahoka.
Taylor said she was not in town at the time, but here grandson and his family were in the home.
“They could see the tornado,’ said Taylor. “They rain in the house and got inside because they knew it was too late to go anywhere.”
The tornado, which travelled 17 miles long, destroyed their shed, broke multiple windows and support beams, powerlines, and their garage among other parts of their property.
Nobody in the home was hurt.
“Absolutely grateful. God was just watching over it,” said Taylor. “They (her family) said it was a horrific thing.”
