A new study suggested gunshot wounds are the third leading cause of death among U.S. children. Researchers said at least 1,300 children die from firearm-related incidents each year.
Doctors in Australia said acupuncture may be as effective as pain killers in providing long term relief to emergency room patients. But researchers found neither pain killers nor acupuncture provided enough immediate relief.
Doctors at Mount Sinai in New York looked into patients at risk for leaving hospitals against medical advice. They found patients most likely to check out were older men, those on Medicaid, and those with mental health issues.
