Looking for something to do a few hours every week?
Covenant Health is looking for volunteers.
“We are needing to fill about 60-70 spots,” said Lauren Orta, Manager of Volunteer Services at Covenant Health. “We are desperately in need for more volunteers.”
Volunteers do a lot around the hospital and Orta says they become a huge part of what makes Covenant the hospital it is.
“First of all it’s a ministry,” explained Orta. “They’re given great opportunities for the people who come in here sick or scared. They’re able to help make their day a little bit easier and they’re able to see the difference in the work they do each week.
Volunteers are needed every week for at least 4 hours Monday through Friday.
“They will be the ones who greet you when you walk in the door, help you with where you’re going, they help you once you’re admitted,” explained Orta. “They also run our gift shops or pop popcorn for the Children’s Hospital.”
Orta says volunteers are what keep the hospital running and hopes you’ll want to take that next step to help.
“They love it because not only is it a place where they come and serve they’re able to create friendships,” said Orta. “The people they work alongside become their family because they’re sitting with them and sharing with them.”
You must be at least 18-years-old to volunteer.
