Early Thursday morning Danielle Gilbert, a Lubbock mother of three, was robbed in Northwest Lubbock. Her father’s laptop and her car keys were stolen. The car was taken around the corner, ripped of its license plates and set on fire.

“I was going to go pick my kids up on Thursday and they were going to spend that time with me and I was going to have money and he took that from me,” Gilbert said.

The suspect broke multiple fences and windows as well.

The car was later found near 4th and Hyden Avenue completely destroyed from the fire after the Lubbock Fire Department was called to the scene and evacuated neighbors.

“The guy was out here, he was messing under the hood for 15 to 20 minutes and the alarm went off, so they heard it and the people across the street heard it,” Gilbert said.

Gilbert added that investigators have taken evidence from the scene and are waiting on the results of the testing.
