Valentine’s Day is the busiest holiday for local flower shops. Employees work overtime to make sure every order is perfect and makes it to the right place.

Preparing for this holiday starts back in January which is when they order the flowers for Valentine’s Day. The week before the actual holiday, employees will work around the clock putting together arrangements to be delivered.

Owner of House of Flowers, Kassie Baker said when Valentine’s Day falls on a week day it is more difficult to predict the number of flowers they will need. That is because less people go out of town or go out to eat and battle the crowds. Baker said even though it is the busiest day for them it is worth it to know they are making someone’s day.

“It is kind of stressful but at the same time the rush that goes with it and the fact that you’re getting to make people happy that thrill of ‘oh my loved one sent me flowers’ the joy that you’re giving them makes it all worth it,” Baker said.

Baker said it is important to be patient when it comes to getting the deliveries done, but all of the flowers will be delivered by the end of the day. If you need a last minute arrangement or gift, House of Flowers has a grab and go area and will be open until 5:30 p.m. today.
