Hundreds of Sears stores across the country, including the Lubbock location, are about to close their doors after the company announced it was filing for bankruptcy.
Gloria Alvarez said she still hasn’t gotten her money back after purchasing five appliances from the Lubbock Sears.
She said the store sold her thousands of dollars of appliances, but could not fulfill her order.
“They were to be delivered on the 17th of November, I bought them on October 31st, I get a call on November the 13th telling me that they’re not going to be able to deliver,” Alvarez said.
So, Alvarez said she went into the store to see why.
“I understood that there was a manufacturing problem,” Alvarez said. “So at his request he asked me to cancel the order, I did and I spoke to the guy at Sears.com and he said we will issue you a refund.”
However, almost two months later, she said she still does not have her money.
“I’ve spoken to the bank, they’ve received nothing, I recently received an email saying they can not issue the check to my post office box for security reasons,”Alvarez said. “They want a physical address, and I told them I cannot receive mail at my house.”
Alvarez said all she wants is to find a way to be reimbursed.
“Can you imagine? I mean working hard for what you earn and buying something you really need, not just because you want it but because you need it,” Alvarez said. “Then you have to go through a nightmare like this, even the associate at Sears told me if I would’ve known that you were going to go through something like this you think I would’ve sold you those appliances.”
