LPD Investigating Crash on S. Loop 289

UPDATED STORY LINK: Police Say Young Man Died in Overnight Crash

The Lubbock Police Department was called to a crash on South Loop 289 early Thursday morning where two people were seriously hurt.


Officers were called to the eastbound lanes of South Loop 289, near Indiana Avenue, around 3:00 a.m.  LPD said two people were trapped in one of the cars and another person was trapped in the other car. 

Officers on scene shut down part of the Loop to traffic.

Lubbock Police issued the following statement:

Eastbound traffic on the South Loop is shut down at Indiana until 9:00 a.m. following an overnight crash.

Just before 3:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3rd, officers responded to that area following reports of a crash involving two vehicles.

Two people were transported to the hospital with Code A injuries.

Accident Investigators responded to the scene and are currently mapping out that scene.

(Code A means serious or potentially life-threatening injuries.)
