LPD Persons Crimes Unit Investigating Tuesday Night Shooting

The Lubbock Police Department Persons Crime Unit began an investigation a man was brought to University Medical Center with a gunshot wound.

Police said the man had serious injuries and had been dropped off at the hospital in a private car around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday. 


LPD said an off-duty officer working security at UMC reported the victim showed up at the hospital.

Officers said they were not able to locate a crime scene Tuesday night, but investigators gathered information that lead them to the 5100 block of 36th Street. That’s where police said officers were looking for possible evidence.

LPD Investigating Tuesday Night Shooting

(LUBBOCK, TX) – Investigators with the Lubbock Police Department Persons Crimes Unit are investigating a late night shooting that sent one victim to the hospital.

On Tuesday, January 2nd at approximately 10:15 p.m., an off duty officer working security at University Medical Center called to report a male gunshot victim with serious injuries was brought to the hospital by a private vehicle.

Through the initial investigation, this shooting does not appear to be random. Investigators believe the victim, 18-year-old Nicholas Davis, was in a vehicle with the suspect when he was shot.

Davis was then dropped off in the area of 5100 36th Street. An individual driving in the area noticed Davis lying on the ground and took him to UMC.

Officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this shooting. More details will be released once additional information becomes available.
