Lubbock Regional Sold Out

Before fans pack the Dan Law Field Friday, the Lubbock Regional Baseball Tournament has already reached sold out status.

“Lubbock is a baseball city with great tradition,” Associate Athletic Director Robert Giovannetti said, “It’s a fantastic opportunity for campus.”

It’s that tradition Texas Tech athletics is hoping to keep alive. Not only are they hosting the regional tournament for the second year in a row, but they’ve sold it out completely.

Giovannetti said it’s a great problem to have.

“We hate it for the people we turned away, but it’s a good situation. It’s better than a lot of places where they’re trying to sell tickets and they can’t move them…we don’t have that problem at all.”

As lots of tickets pop up for sale through third-party outlets, Giovannetti said fans need to make sure that what they’re buying is real.

“We had that issue last year with some people thinking they had a ticket, and that’s not something we can control if they buy the tickets from somebody,” Giovannetti said, “So you need to make sure the person you’re getting them from is reputable, and they actually hand you a physical ticket to get in the door.”

If you still can’t find your way into The Law, there are other ways to enjoy the game.

“By Rawls College of Business there will be a tailgate experience, live music, a television in there to watch other games…you’ll be able to eat, have drinks, and we’ll have events and inflatables for kids,” Giovannetti said.
