The number of people with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia will double by 2060 in the U.S. according to a new CDC report that showed more than 400,000,000 people will be affected by Alzheimer’s disease in the coming decades. Researchers said early diagnosis was key to help families dealing with the disease.
People in the U.S., U.K. and China have a higher risk of premature death from chronic diseases compared to other countries. A study in The Lancet showed a 30 year old woman in the U.S. has a 12% chance of dying from cancer, cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease and diabetes before her 70th birthday.
A new study said African American women were more likely to skip breast cancer treatments that could lower their chances of recurrence. The study in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute looked at more than 12,000 patients prescribed hormone therapy, and found African American women reported using the drugs less.
