MedMinute: Deadly diets

Poor diet accounts for one in every five deaths worldwide, according to a new study from more than 130 scientists in nearly 40 countries. Researchers said the largest number of diet-related deaths were associated with consuming too much sodium and not enough whole grains and fruit. 

New research found young women who receive routine HPV vaccinations dramaticly reduce their risk of cervical disease later in life. Researchers in Scotland found vaccinated women showed an 89% reduction in the most severe kind of cervical disease, compared to women who did not get vaccinated when they were younger. 


If you want to lower your stress, simply go for a stroll or sit on a park bench. Researchers from the University of Michigan found people who spent just 20 to 30 minutes enjoying nature at least three times a week, significantly reduced their levels of the stress hormone, cortisol.
