A new study found women with breast cancer benefit more from treatment if screened for the life-threatening illness. The study showed patients who took part in a screening program had a 60% lower risk of dying from breast cancer within a decade after diagnosis. Doctors said screening leads to earlier detection.

Researchers have discovered that untreated hearing loss is somehow associated with a higher risk of dementia, depression, falls and heart attack.  They said more studies are needed to know whether treatment for hearing loss, such as wearing a hearing aid, would lower the risk.

Even when you’re at rest, you burn calories, but the number of calories burned while taking it easy changes throughout the day. People burn 10% more calories during rest in late afternoon and early evening than in the early morning.  Researchers in Massachusetts said this could help explain why eating and sleeping at irregular hours may lead to weight gain.
