A new study points to diets high in fried and processed foods as the main reason why African American people are at a higher risk of developing high blood pressure than whites, according to researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

More people especially those diagnosed with diabetes are being hospitalized for skin and respiratory tract infections and sepsis. A CDC study finds diabetic people are two to seven times more likely to be admitted to the hospital for an infection.

Overweight or obese people with type 2 diabetes have a greater risk of dying from different types of cancer, according to British researchers. They found women with type 2 diabetes are 31% more likely to die from any cancer, and for men the risk is 22% higher.
