A new study found that people under 40 who have high blood pressure were at greater risk of experiencing heart failure, stroke and blood vessel blockages as they get older. The immune system may play a role in postpartum depression after a stressful pregnancy. Researchers at Ohio State University looked at the brains of stressed rats and found inflammation in areas related to mood. They said the stress might lead to changes in how immune cells in the brain function.

Artificial intelligence could help doctors diagnose Alzheimer’s disease years in advance. Researchers in California developed a deep learning algorithm to determine changes in brain metabolism. They said the algorithm could be a useful tool in conjunction with brain imaging to provide early intervention.
