The FDA is launching a new push to regulate the $50 billion dollar a year dietary supplement industry. They said the agency will start policy changes to protect the public from unsafe products, including spiked supplements with unlisted drug ingredients. It will also hold manufacturers accountable especially when it comes to misleading claims about health benefits. 

The dramatic rise in youth e-cigarette use is erasing years of progress in reducing tobacco use among teens. A new CDC report found almost 5 million middle and high schools students used tobacco products in 2018. That was up from 3.6 million the year before.    

Researchers testing a new experimental drug for tuberculosis said it seems to be more effective than the current drug that’s been used for decades.  In studies on mice, the still unnamed drug lingers inside infected tissues longer and a does better job killing TB bacteria.
