More 12-to-19 year-olds in the US are considered to have high blood pressure under new American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines. The CDC said about 800,000 additional teenagers are now classified as having hypertension. Hypertension was most prevalent among severely obese teens and contributes to heart disease and stroke.
The CDC urged adults 45 and older who experience confusion or memory loss to discuss their symptoms with a doctor because they could be early signs of Alzheimer’s Disease. Government data revealed one in nine US adults experience cognitive decline. Of those, more than half had difficulty performing everyday functions, like cooking, cleaning or taking medications.
An Australian study found people who eat oranges every day are 60% less likely to develop macular degeneration compared to those who never eat them. Researchers suggested antioxidant properties in oranges can protect against the eye disease and that even one serving a week helps.
