Visiting a Pediatrician prior to giving birth could be essential to your baby’s health, according to a new report in the journal Pediatrics. Doctors recommend the visit happen during the third trimester of pregnancy to cover safety topics like car seats, vaccines and even postpartum depression. 

Another study in Pediatrics shows a growing number of children are being unintentionally poisoned by a drug designed to treat opioid-dependence. Researchers found between 2007 and 2016, 45% of children exposed to Buprenorphine were admitted to the hospital;11 died. Buprenorphine is an FDA-approved drug.

A warning for diabetic mothers: new research in JAMA finds mothers with pre-existing type 1 and type 2 diabetes, as well as gestational diabetes, have higher rates of children on the autism spectrum.
