Patients with common shoulder pain, also known as rotator cuff disease, should avoid surgery as a way to stop discomfort, according to an international panel of experts. The team found having shoulder surgery does not improve pain, movement or quality of life. The group recommended doctors avoid the procedure, but stopped short of offering alternative treatments.
A new Danish study found gastric bypass surgery helps Type 2 diabetes patients go into remission. A person’s level of education may not protect against a dementia later in life, according to research at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. It said the amount of education does not determine when the disease starts or how quickly it robs memory and other thinking skills.
