When it comes to exercise, new research shows physical activity helps patients dealing with depression to lower their risk of heart disease. The study at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, showed those with high levels of fitness at middle age were much less likely to die from heart disease later in their lives, even if they were diagnosed with depression. Researchers said the earlier people start exercising, the more likely they are to avoid depression throughout their lives.
Columbia University researchers found washing your hands and frequently cleaning your house can protect against flame retardant chemicals added to furniture and electronics. Exposure to the chemicals was linked to decreased fertility and thyroid dysfunction.
