A new study looking at 7th and 8th graders in Ohio found a third had abnormal levels of blood sugar or high cholesterol. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommended routine screening for diabetes for middle schoolers, but most are not tested.
Researchers in the UK have taken the first long-term look at possible predictors for young people and suicide attempts. Marijuana use, exposure to self-harm in friends or family and sleep problems were all likely factors.
Older adults feel younger when they have a sense of control over their lives, according to a study published in The Lancet Psychiatry. The study also found stress and health concerns make younger people feel older.
