Car break ins isn’t exactly a rare thing in Lubbock and this week was no exception. But neighbors in the area of 106th and Chicago said the suspects in their most recent car break ins are different.
“They hit the entire block,” Leslie Leatherwood said.
Leatherwood caught the suspects on his surveillance cameras. In the video, you can see one man shining a flashlight into a darkened window and in his hand are two bags he’s already stolen. They even smashed a nearby neighbor’s car window when they saw something they wanted.
“Just anger. We work hard for what we have. We get up and go to work and find something missing, or your window busted, it’s a total inconvenience.” Leatherwood said.
But neighbors said on this street, they usually see teenagers peaking into car windows. But this time they were adults.
“These guys looked like they were 25 to 35. I mean they’re grown…I’m not going to say ‘men.’ They are grown individuals and they should know better,” Leatherwood said.
Some neighbors even calling them professional car burglars, armed with gloves and flashlights. Leatherwood said he’s glad his camera caught them right in the act. Then he decided to put those videos on Facebook to warn people to not leave anything valuable inside your cars.
“You just want to be prepared. Don’t leave anything in the open. Don’t make it an easy target. That’s part of the reason my truck wasn’t broken into,” he said.
If you have any information or know who these people are, you should report it to police.
