Cassandra Lujan said her neighborhood is usually quiet, but that wasn’t the case early Tuesday morning.

“It sounded like a display, like 4th of July,” Lujan said, “The gun just…was ongoing and didn’t stop at all.”

Police said two men got into a fight at Stripes gas station. The suspect left and went to a home near 29th Street and Avenue F. Eventually the victim showed up.

Authorities said their argument continued and the suspect shot at the victim, who returned gunshots of his own.

“I just saw the car parked there, and that car all messed up over there, and the bullets on the floor,” Lujan said.

The woman called 911. Lujan said she was so shaken up by the incident, she’d like to move.

“I didn’t want nothing to happen to my kids, because it could’ve gone anywhere. The gun was just scary.”

Officials said the victim is expected to make a full recovery. A search for the suspect continues. Lujan said she will be keeping her guard up.

“[I’ll] keep my doors locked and keep my phone beside me in case I have to call 911.”
