There is one question that is still unanswered for hundreds of former employees for both Twisted Spigot and Ruby Tequila’s: Where is the money?

“That’s the frustration now it’s been over a year since this happened, so where’s the money?” asked former Twisted Spigot employee Eric Pool.

It’s been more than a year since those restaurants closed their doors permanently, and employees are still asking why.

“Why did this happen and why did it happen so abruptly?” asked Pool.

Jeff Blackburn, the lawyer representing the employees who haven’t been paid, hopes to have more answers soon. After tracking down the owners of the restaurants, they entered into mediation with the employees, something that Blackburn said did not go as planned.

“We are still fighting this case. It has gone through all kinds of crazy twists and turns,” said Blackburn.

Many employees still upset nothing has been settled in the case. When Twisted Spigot on University Avenue closed its doors, Pool was without a job for six months.

“The financial stability that I had, it just went away. It went away too quick,” Pool said.

He’s back on his feet now, but he’s focused on a resolution.

“It frustrated me when it up and quit out of nowhere, but now the frustration is when are we getting paid,” he said.

Blackburn hopes to have this case settled and paychecks delivered soon.

“We’re plowing through, and we’re going to win,” he said.

But for now, employees are just waiting for what they’re owed.
