As the Red Raiders get ready for the Sweet Sixteen, fans gear up to support them. Less than 24 hours after their victory against Florida, sales both in-store and online sky rocketed.

“We practically sold out of everything that we have and were prepared for. We are doing our best to make sure that we take care of our fans,” said Jonathan Maldonado, sales manager at Red Raider Outfitter.

While their initial stock depleted within hours, the store is taking pre-orders and will receive more merchandise Monday and Tuesday, he said.

This increase in Sweet Sixteen apparel sales shows “the [team], we are 100 percent behind them,” said Brandon Tapp, a Texas Tech Men’s Basketball fan.

While The Matador does not currently have t-shirts in stock, they will be receiving their shipment on Tuesday as well.

“We have been working with Under Armour. We will see some of our Sweet Sixteen things start to roll in. The stores have been crazy, people have been calling. The internet has been blowing up,” said Steve Massengale, owner of The Matador.

In addition, the retailer is also selling cold-weather gear so fans can represent the red and black while staying warm in Boston, he said.

“People are shopping and getting ready to go to Boston. They want to share their gear and show their colors,” said Massengale.

When shipments arrive, Maldonado recommends purchasing apparel quickly since they are selling out.

“It’s their time to shine. They worked hard and it’s great to see what they’ve accomplished, said Tapp.
