Easy R Equine Rescue, a local horse rescue non-profit, is asking for donations after rescuing a horse in the Abilene area. They said this horse is in the worst condition they’ve ever seen.
The horse is named Chablis. It was brought to Lubbock severely underweight, dehydrated and 5-months pregnant. Usually a rescue horse costs several hundred dollars, but Chablis will probably cost a few thousand dollars to get back to healthy conditions.
Chablis was given up by an owner in the Abilene area after being neglected for most of her life. Easy R Equine Rescue said a horse her size should way between 900 and 1100 pounds. Chablis is estimated to weight just over 600 pounds.
Easy R Rescue said because the cost to take care of Chablis is so high, their finances for other horses and projects will be lower. They’re asking the community to help and set up a donation drive.
